Barrel vault walkway

Conceived in collaboration with designers Barr Gazetas, the 150m long walkway provides a covered VIP link between the O2 dome and the Queen Elizabeth II pier in the Thames.  Flanked by a willow wall, the walkway comes alive at night with interactive lighting. A significant aspect of the concept was the modification and re-use of steel components that had served on other structures on the site during the millennium celebrations. Tony Hogg Design provided design and engineering services for the membrane and supporting steelwork. Part of the scope also included the engineering for several umbrellas located on the floating pier and at the bankside, where the canting brow meets the end of the walkway.
