Client: Base Structures (2008)
The structure was designed to provide a feature canopy as part of the courtyard landscaping for the Medicentre in Inverness. The multiple sails are all hypar forms supported on steel struts and tie backs. Following our scheme proposal Tony Hogg Design carried out the design, engineering and detailing for the membrane and supporting steelwork. Due to the confined vertical height adjacent to the louvre structures around the fascia of the building it was essential to consider very carefully the forms of all five sails to prevent clashes and ponding of the sails under snow loads.
