THD developed the original Architect's requirement for a barrel-vaulted roof to this athletics centre.  The main roof was a basic portal frame structure, onto the top of which the arches were placed to create the barrel-vaulted fabric membranes.  Being a sports training venue the space is not heated and therefore a single layer of fabric was ideal and sufficiently translucent to allow plenty of natural light into the venue.
