Client: Base Structures (2005)

Multi conic canopy over shopping mall

This stunning example of tensile fabric architecture forms a grand entrance feature and creates a bright interior as the PVC coated polyester membrane roof both transmits and reflects light from above. The mall's tensile roof structure is 100 metres long and 15 metres wide with six interconnecting conical membrane forms.

Drawing on the experience of attaching tensile membranes to existing buildings, Tony Hogg Design have engineered this structure to self-contain the tensile loads by incorporating slip bearing connections along one side.

All of the fabric details were designed, engineered and drawn for fabrication by Tony Hogg Design, including the 450 linear metres of pavement-level shop-front walkway canopies.
